This weekend my kids and I had the chance to visit the Santa Ana Zoo. It's a really lovely local zoo in a beautiful park. I used to take the kids when they were little but it's been a few years since we've been, and we had such a nice day.
At our zoo, each animal has an informational plaque describing unique attributes of the species, and it also talks about what risks they live with. It was sobering to see how many of the monkeys are endangered. India began taking note of this, and at one point, she started to cry. She was so upset at the thought of these animals becoming extinct.
We had some serious conversations about the environmental reasons this is happening, and what we can do about it.
If you are interested in a visit to a local AZA zoo, you can purchase two specially marked Stonyfield Farms YoKids multipacks and get a FREE kid's ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket.
